About
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I hold a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from City University of Seattle and a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care Studies from the University of Victoria. Based in the beautiful Sea to Sky corridor, I provide virtual counselling services to children, teens, adults, and families across British Columbia.
With over a decade of experience working with children, young adults, and families, my approach combines authenticity, curiosity, and humour, helping to make even difficult conversations and thoughts feel more approachable. By focusing on building trust and fostering a genuine connection, I aim to support you in a way that feels both relatable and empowering.
My passion for authentic human connection is what led me to this career and continues to inspire and motivate me. I believe that building meaningful relationships is at the heart of effective therapy. In our time together, you’ll experience a genuine human experience, supported by just the right amount of self-disclosure to help you feel comfortable and at ease. I aim to create a space where you can relate to me as your therapist and feel truly understood. While therapy may bring moments of vulnerability and many emotions, it’s also a space to celebrate breakthroughs and recognize the small and big wins along the way. I can guarantee there will also be laughter and some joy, as we collaborate and work through your concerns and challenges.
Approach
The foundation of my approach is rooted in a strengths-based perspective and a person-centered philosophy. While I often incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as a common intervention to help shift thoughts and behaviors, I also blend in other techniques like Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to guide goal-setting and progress, and mindfulness practices to manage stress and anxiety. Additionally, I integrate Emotion-Focused Therapy and attachment theory, always tailoring my approach to what feels right for each person. No two clients are the same, so each session may look completely different from the next, ensuring our work together is personalized, effective, culturally safe, and trauma-informed.
When working with children, I bring the same foundational techniques to the table but in a way that feels engaging and playful—think bright props, visual aids, and activities that meet their developmental needs. Sessions might involve animated storytelling, games, or creative tools to help kids connect with their emotions and practice new skills. Though I’ll admit—every now and then, a set of colorful props or a playful metaphor sneaks into my work with adults. This adaptability helps create a dynamic, approachable space where clients of all ages feel supported and understood.
Evidence-Based Practice
When I’m not in the therapy room (aka Zoom), you’ll find me happiest outdoors, doing all the things I love—whether it’s riding anything with two wheels, trail running, skiing, or swimming in just about any body of water I can find. I’m passionate about staying active and embracing nature, but like many of us, I don’t always practice what I preach. Often, I’m juggling long, messy to-do lists, misplacing my keys, doom-scrolling, and navigating the everyday chaos of life.
Despite how it may seem, I’m also a proud introvert. Outside of work and time spent with friends, I’m likely recharging by lying horizontal on the couch, watching my favourite shows, and declaring how cozy I am. Balancing my love for activities with the need for downtime helps me stay grounded, so I can give my clients my full attention and support in session.
